Jerry Dias, Lana Payne to meet 87-M members

Dear colleagues,

Local 87-M has arranged an opportunity for journalist members of the local to meet with Jerry Dias, national president of Unifor, and Lana Payne, secretary treasurer, and have a one-on-one conversation about political action by the national union.

We’ve moved September’s General Membership, Rep Council and Executive Committee meetings from London to Toronto to accommodate this meeting.

Jerry and Lana will join us at our General Membership meeting at 12:15 p.m. on September 18 at the Local office, 91 Skyway Ave., Unit 106, Etobicoke. I’ve asked Jerry and Lana, who is a former journalist, to come talk about the national union’s political action in the upcoming federal election and how it intersects with journalists who are Unifor members.

The meeting with Jerry and Lana is open to all members of Local 87-M. As a general membership meeting of the Local, however, it is closed to working journalists.
