Paul Morse becomes Local 87M President

Former Hamilton Spectator Unit Chair becomes Local President

Local 87M has a new president.

Former Hamilton Spectator Unit Chair Paul Morse took over as Local President after Brad Honywill resigned to accept a staff representative position for the Local.

Honywill replaced former Staff Rep Howard Law who accepted the position of CEP National Representative in April.

The final domino in the series of changes is expected at the June 15 Rep Council meeting when nominations will be accepted for the 1st Vice President position vacated by Morse. Former Local vice-president Scott Burton from ATV in London has already announced that he plans to seek the position.

Morse became president under the Local's bylaws because the 1st VP automatically moves up when the sitting president resigns in mid-term.

Morse will serve the remainder of the current term which expires on March 31, 2012. He will have the opportunity to put his name forward for a new two-year-term at the Local's nomination meeting in January.
